February 15, 2020 Point Reyes Lighthouse

Good morning everyone.

Today we went to Point Reyes National Seashore.  Along the way, before we got there, we crossed the San Andreas fault line.

Yes, there were deer roaming around, not really concerned with people walking by.

We listened to a talk about whales by the park ranger.  Grammie is holding part of a whale's baleen which is used to filter water and collect food.

The lighthouse at the end of the point is down by the shore.  The walkway down was 318 steps.

The water crashing on the rocks was a beautiful sight.

This is a compressor that was used to build up enough air to blow the horns.  The horns at this particular lighthouse blew every 30 seconds.  The timing of the horn helps to identify where the ship is, which is very helpful in thick fog.

The  horns that made the sound every 30 seconds.

Now, the fun part.  Grammie got to go up the 318 stairs.

Grammie looks very rested because she hadn't gone up the stairs yet.

Back at Drakes Beach where the tour began, there were a few large Elephant Seals laying around.

The weather for our trip in California has been great, we haven't had any rain and the temperatures have been in the 60's.

Grammie had a great day.  Thanks for looking after Grammie.
