Day 4 March 30, 2012

Had a great day today. Tom got in 18 holes at the Naval Academy golf course. Shortly after, we went to the Academy for a wonderful guided tour. Our guide was a "65" graduate who retired as a Naval Captain and provided running commentary about the facilities and history. Our group asked so many questions that we went over our time. He knew the answer for all the great questions but I was really struck when a lady asked where the french architecture influence of Bancroft Hall from...and to our amazement...names, dates...it was great.

The remains of John Paul Jones lie in a Crypt downstairs beneath the Naval Academy Chapel.

Tonight we are at Fort Lee, the Quartermaster home.

Day 3 March 29 2012

After having a wonderful meal at Canteras, we took an evening stroll in Annapolis.

Just wanted to let you know that Spring can't be far behind.

Some real friendly ducks. They were about 5 feet away. We also enjoyed 2 males flying after a female that made more than one trip overhead.

Day 3 March 29 2012

After Paul cooked breakfast and having said goodbyes before we see each other again in Maine we hit the road for a short driving day. We stopped at the Air Mobility Command Museum in Dover, DE. It was a good display of the airplanes used to move the nations military during times of worldwide crises.

Would you believe they actually let me fly this thing.

This plane was used to fly some very important people and even a few "First Ladies". Notice I got my "First Lady" in the picture.

Day 2, March 28 2012

Drove a fair share today, Tom 355 miles, Alice 0.

Had a wonderful visit with a Winthrop neighbor, Paul Warren and his wife Ginnie in Wilmington. Had a good time talking about childhood days and trying to fill in th
e popular question "Have you seen so and so recently.

Day 1 March 27, 2012

We got as far as Danvers, MA and visited with my sister and husband Ron. As usual it was a great start, caught up with family news and drank Ron's beer. He doesn't mind at all. I didn't tell him that I will be looking for some Yeungling for him. That way he won't mind if I stop in on the way back home.

Mom's gathering 3/24/2012

Today the whole family gathered at the house to have a meal and just have a good time. Everyone played a game of Freeze tag and after, the adults played a game of horseshoes...but nothing new there...the team that always wins won again. Alice made a meal for all. It was good time to see each other before we leave on our trip.
