February 11, 2020 Point Lobos Sanctuary...17 mile drive

Today we decided to take in some more scenery.  As Mainers know, you can't go wrong with the coastline.  Point Lobos State Natural Reserve is just across Carmel Bay to the south.

The water in the area appeared bluer that other places we have visited.

Depending on the type of rock most areas were rough although there were also areas where the rock was worn down and showed different colored layers

This lizard happened to catch our eye.

 More colorful layered rock

Clear water with a familiar color

We came upon an artist doing a painting of the  picture above.  She seemed to enjoy dabbing several colors together.

She was kind enough to let us take a picture of her work in progress.  Delia Bradford it a local artist that opened up a shop in 2016 in Carmel.

 Plenty of Aqua colored water.

There were a couple of Otters playing around in the seaweed.

Just around the bend to the left was a small out cropping called Bird Island.  The common bird there was the Cormorant.
There were plenty of opportunities for taking great pictures, but the animals were also keeping  an eye out for Grammie.

In afternoon we decided to take a drive around the 17 Mile Drive.  It included driving through Carmel by the Sea, Pacific Grove and Pebble Beach.  On the Drive around the point, there are 17 numbered places to stop and take a picture or 2.
Spanish Bay Beach

Caught Grammie feeling the warm sand.

The Restless Sea  The water was very choppy caused by submerged rocks.

You probably looked at this picture and were thinking that the house must be in the millions.  Tom was thinking membership in the Monterey Peninsula Country Club.  That green is not their front yard...it's the fairway.

 More fairways at MPCC.

Bird Rock

 Cypress Point

Tom was thinking that this would be a great picture for a puzzle.  At least the fence part would be easy.

A lone bird on a rock mound in the ocean.

We happened to have our picture taken by a couple of love birds.

The well known Lone Cypress.

The Ghost Trees at Pescadero Point at sundown

For the last 4 days we really enjoyed the area and the golf tournament.  Tom thought that he had heard Grammie say that she would like to come back next year.  The front gate at Pebble Beach Golf Course.

Grammie had 4 wonderful days, and did lots of walking.  Thanks for watching out for Grammie!
