February 12, 2020 Sacramento

Good morning everyone.
Today we went to the Capitol City of California to tour our 41st State Capitol Building.
Over the years, the building has transformed more towards a museum.  Although many of the offices have been moved to new buildings in the area, it still has the governors office located there.

The building had more of a brick and mortar construction approach lacking the typical marble that was done in so many other capitol buildings we have visited, although the new portion that houses the Governors office was done in marble.

This is the previous Governor Jerry Brown's current portrait. It  is supposed to be replaced sometime this year.

Tho dome of the building has a dome on top of a dome. If looking from the inside, one would think they were looking at the top.

From inside, if you look at the top of the dome, there is still another 100 foot section above it which is not visible to the pulic.

The legislature is a full time job and members work 9 months throughout the year.

As is typical of the 3 capitol buildings that we have visited this year, there is construction going on with changes to the entrances and the security that goes along with them.

Although Grammie is not featured in today's post, she continues to get in her daily walks.
