I can put in text but I still can't upload pictures. I have a feeling that Google is causing the problem when it tried to force bloggers to use another google online photo program.
Anyway, The answers to the nose problem are A Lincoln, B Roosevelt, C Washington, D Jefferson.
OK I just got the blog to work, hopefully smoothly. Today's blog is for the reptile lovers...especially the kids. We visited Reptile Gardens.
Reptile Gardens in Rapid City
Matt at the gardens did a short program on snakes. The Cobra below really can't hear to follow the music like in the move's. He demonstrated by moving his foot in front of the snake and it followed the movement.
The rattlesnake, even though dangerous doesn't normally attack if confronted. Matt mentioned that often the location of the rattle isn't obvious and that one should stop, locate the sound and back away slowly. Most of the rattlesnake deaths each year occur in Africa.
Grammie was found at the snake show and actually was seen petting the Boa Constrictor. She is getting to be a good sport.
After a short break, Matt led the program at the Alligator/Crocodile show. He explained the differences between the two and also identified several species inside the cage...with about 3 dozen inside. This one just stayed still with it's mouth open.
After more explaining, Matt explained how easy it was to get on an alligator and close its jaw. The animal actually has blind spots directly behind and in front of its head.
Matt sure looks excited here but you could easily see the sweat dripping off his head, all the while keeping track of the location of the rest of them.
These last 2 pictures are out of order but you can see that one's body must be in a good position so the alligator can't roll underneath you.
We got to see a bald eagle that was injured and can't heal enough to be released back to the wild.
Don't you just like to make eye contact with an animal that looks hungry. My pocket camera has a good zoom so it just looks like I am close.
A little turtle just having a good time in the pool. Maybe Max needs a companion.
Back to Matt during feeding time
Our good sport of the day showed up for another petting session. Notice the tape around the youngsters jaw.
Can anybody guess what kind of tree this is?
This sign was on the fence outside the tortoise cage.
Matt said they love company and likes to be petted on the neck.

This is Maniac weighing in at 1045 pounds and 15 feet 7 inches at last checkup.
Alice sent out e-mails to the grandchildren and two of them knew right away what this is.
A Komodo Dragon
The Komodo was heading to the inside area.
Komodo, up close and personal
There were many other snakes and other poisonous creatures including several types of tarantulas.
Later in the afternoon we went back to town. Rapid City is known as the City of the Presidents.
On the city street corners is a lifesize bronze statue of each of the retired presidents. They have all be made possible by private donations.

After having a meal at the Firehouse Brewing Company, we called it a day of sightseeing.

On the way back to Ellsworth Air Force Base, Alice mentioned something to Tom about playing golf. Tom said that he found out a couple of days ago that they had a golf course. On the last straightaway back to the lodge the Garmin kept saying turn right when we were supposed to keep going straight. Alice asked why Gloria Garmin was saying turn right. Tom's response..."I think she wants to go to the golf course" Who knew?
