September 22, 2013

Today we went to Glacier National Park and crossed from the East side starting at St Mary and drove across the Going To The Sun Road finally arriving in Columbia Falls several hours later.  Our choice was simple...the first part on the East was closing today for the season.

The first pictures are all of the drive from Malmstron AFB to St Mary up to the point where we enter the park.

For today, I'm going to let you just scroll through the pictures and save my comments.  They are all pretty views.

Our wild animals for the day.  These are pretty...they are wearing some sort of earring.

The next sequence of pictures are in the park heading west.

In the next sequence we dismounted the van and walked in to see St Mary Falls and Virginia Falls...a distance of over 3 miles.

This picture is prettier than the rest.

After stopping at Logan pass we headed down the west side.  We did not take many pictures because someone wanted Tom to keep his eyes on the road. From here the elevation drops 3700 feet and hugs the side of the mountains with, at times, the rocks overhanging the vehicle.

Even though it doesn't look it from here, the weather deteriorated rapidly to fog and rain so we pretty much suspended taking pictures until later on in the week when we go back up to Logan Pass for a hike on the Hidden Lake Trail.

We finally arrived at Meadowlake Resort and got in at least one important picture...from out our back door.  The 14th hole.  What's a guy to do?

A great day on the road!
