The Interpretive center used the journals of the Lewis and Clark to help to illustrate the things they saw and went through along the way.
When Lewis and Clark came to the great falls, in Great Falls, they had a difficult time getting their boats laden with all the supplies needed for the journey up over the falls.
When a buffalo was killed, they tried not to waste anything. This article was used to store water. It is made from the bladder.
A view of the Missouri River near the Center.
Canada Geese standing in the shallow river.
Grammie was seen at the Great Springs that were seen and documented by Lewis and Clark.
The Great Springs feed about 150 million gallons of water a day back into the river. The water remains a constant 54 degrees. The lighter green area was about 5 feet under the surface.
Along the journey, the workers ate a lot of meat to keep their strength up, consuming about 9000 calories a day. Can you imaging how many rabbits it would take for that many calories. Buffalo was the meat of choice.
Tomorrow we head through Glacier National Park. It will be the last day that the East to West road will be completely open but we will still be able to access it from the Southwest entrance.
