We were able to get up to Guadalupe Mountains National Park today. On the way North we saw off in the distance what looked like a blimp, but it didn't seem to move. We finally got right underneath it, although it was high enough to send/receive data if that is what it is doing. Anyway, the sign at the beginning of the road was this.
The zoom made this look closer than it really was.
About 40 miles from Guadalupe NP the warning light came on for the tire pressure. The first 3 read about 45 psi...but the 4th read 20...and dropping. A plug took care of the problem, but not wanting to make the process repetitive, Tom checked the whole tire and found a very minor problem area that might have made it another 500 miles but no sense creating additional work. A 2nd plug went in.
We finally made it to the park.
Capitan Mountains
We couldn't believe how much color was in this picture after driven through the flat desert for about 100 miles.
The Frijole ranch belonged to farmers between 1907 to 1940. After harvesting their crops, they would ride to the market (60 miles) overnight so the vegetables would be fresh in the morning.
Several mountains in the area looked more like pyramids.
We took a walk on 2 trails for about 3 miles. Enough to climb a little elevation, get some sun and consume some water.
At the end of the day, we ended up in Carlsbad New Mexico.
Thanks for keeping an eye out for Grammie.
BTW, today we crossed into Mountain time and will be for the next 3 weeks.
