March 18, 2018 Austin

Hi everyone, we are catching up now as we have been without internet that will serve the PC.
Our plans were to head back into the city as the 18th was that last day of the SXSW festival.  After riding around the crowded city, we decided to head back out of town.

We made it to Mount Bonnell that has a nice overlook view of Lake Austin and is a popular area for a hike.  It took 100 steps up to the top of Mt Bonnell from the parking lot.

As you can probably tell, this is the more affluent part of Austin.

Austin Lake is a dammed up portion of the Colorado River (not the one you may know), that makes up the cities water source.  The waste is heavily filtered and we are glad we started this trip with some Poland Springs water.

Right nearby was an Art museum called The Contemporary.  This particular piece was on the front lawn.  As you can probably guess, it didn't feature your typical art work.  This one was created from aluminum cooking pans.

This closeup shot reveals some of the individual pans used.

We had a late lunch at the Oasis Restaurant, which is an extremely popular spot to eats.  It sits up high overlooking Lake Travis, another lake formed by a series of dams.  The restaurant has at least 4 floors.  Out table was #141 but there were many, many more.

Plenty of decor around.  This was a good family restaurant.

 How Texans view their state.

Finally got in a picture of Grammie.
More sunshine in the plans.
