October 5, 2015

Today we were leaving Kirtland AFB and as we were loading up the van, we could see plenty of balloons in the distance.  Once we got to I-25 headed towards Colorado Springs, we decided to exit quick near the Fiesta field and like a couple of kids in a candy story, couldn't get enough pictures.

Today the pilots were in competition, showing their ability to control the balloons.  They are given sandbags and have to be the best by dropping their sandbags as close as possible to a target...and another to a different target.

After that they were seen trying to find a suitable place to land.

In the next few pics you can see some pilots trying to land...or have already landed.

About 5 hours up I-25 we are getting close to the Rockies

Days end...the mountains behind the Air Force Academy.

Thanks for looking out for us.  We promise...no more balloon pictures...except...
