Leaving Montgomery this morning. computer packed...check, wallet/purse...check, everything else in suitcase...check, add ice to cooler...check, clean dishes...check, teeth brushed...check, check refrigerator...1/2 pint of butter pecan ice cream still in freezer....there we were pondering what to do with it at 8:30 a.m.
Heading down the road on April 1st Wayne had predicted that there would lots of RV's headed back home...sure enough, they were from Michigan and Indiana mostly.
As we were riding North, Alice commented on the fact that Brenda Ferguson usually sends her an e-mail on April 1st with a kindergarten April Fools joke and she hadn't gotten one yet. Sure enough as we were nearing Huntsville....Mr.s Kus, your shoes are untied. Thanks Brenda.
Birmingham is a city that expanded greatly because of the rich deposits of iron ore and steel manufacturing. Sometimes we don't really appreciate what the industry has done for us.
Birmingham is home to the world's largest cast iron statue. It depicts the mythical god of the fire and forge...Vulcan . He was originally created for the 1904 Worlds Fair in St. Louis. He is 56 feet tall and weighs about 100,000 pounds. I know at least one of my daughters would think the naked buttocks were
funny. A novelty song "Moon over Homewood" refers to the fact that the statue "Moons" the neighbors.
W hope all the teachers out there enjoyed April Fools day. Did Tom ever mention that once he found his teaching desk 3 doors North down the hall?
